A letter from Pastor Matt, to the churches in Sebring, Ocala, and Lakeland…
Church family, I have been a part of our churches for many years, and have grown to not only love my church families, but the surrounding neighbors in each of the places as well. I have done my best to serve our congregations throughout this time with love and grace. I have so many incredible memories of those I have served and served with over these years.
Over the past 6 months my wife and I have had countless conversations, and have really sought the Lord’s direction as to what 2025 was going to look like for us in ministry, and it has been decided that as of January 1st, I will be taking a big step back from vocational ministry and resigning my current role as Administrative Pastor. I will remain on as an Elder and non-staff Pastor within our Neighborhood Churches while taking some time to reflect and seek God’s direction for my next steps in ministry.
I submitted my resignation to our Elders just over a week ago, and have discussed this decision at length with them. They have regretfully yet harmoniously accepted my resignation. Although this has been an ongoing conversation in my life I realize that this may seem to be a sudden change for you. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of our Elders. They have fully assessed the situation and will be more helpful to your processing than any uninformed speculation.
Please be praying for a few things:
Pray for this transition. There are many administrative tasks that will need to be handed off, and I will do everything I can to make it as smooth as possible, especially over the next few months. I have no intention to abandon the ship of this ministry.
Pray for clarity and discernment for not only my next steps in ministry, but the next steps in our church ministries as well.
Pray for our Pastors and Lay Elders in Sebring, Ocala, and Lakeland as they continue to equip the saints to fulfill our mission of inviting our neighbors to meet and follow Jesus.
